KTFC Loei City Football Club (Thai สโมสรฟุตบอลเคทีเอฟซี เลย ซิตี้), is a Thailand semi professional football club based in Loei Province. The club currently plays in Thai League 4 North Eastern Region.
History
Founded in 2009, Loei joined the new Thai football setup and started at the 3rd level setup, the Regional League North-East Division.
Loei duly came out on top come the end of the regular league season, thus claiming their first ever championship and also crowned as the first ever winners of the Regional League North-East Division.
On winning the championship, Loei entered the 2009 Regional League Championships. An end of season mini-league for all 5 Regional League Division 2 championship winning teams.
They retained 2010 Thai Division 2 League North Eastern Region title. For the second consecutive season they entered 2010 Regional League Division 2 play-offs. Yet again the Division 1 eluded them, and disappointingly Loei finished bottom in their mini-league.
Loei City è una squadra relativamente giovane, ma ha già ottenuto un discreto successo nel calcio thailandese. Nel 2015, il club ha vinto la Thai League 3, la terza divisione del campionato thailandese, e ha ottenuto la promozione in Thai League 2. Nella stagione 2016, il Loei City ha concluso al 10° posto in Thai League 2, e nella stagione 2017 è arrivato 12°.
Il Loei City gioca le sue partite casalinghe allo stadio Wangsamaphun, che ha una capacità di 5.000 spettatori. Lo stadio è stato costruito nel 2013 e ospita anche le partite della squadra di calcio femminile del Loei City.
Il Loei City ha una forte rivalità con il Khon Kaen United, un'altra squadra della Thailandia nordorientale. Le due squadre si affrontano regolarmente nella Thai League 2 e le loro partite sono sempre molto combattute.
Il Loei City è una squadra ambiziosa che spera di raggiungere la promozione in Thai League 1, la massima divisione del campionato thailandese di calcio. Il club ha un buon organico e un allenatore esperto, e ha buone possibilità di ottenere la promozione in Thai League 1 nelle prossime stagioni.
