Mathare United Football Club is a professional association football club, based in Nairobi, Kenya. The club competes in the Kenyan Premier League, the top tier of the Kenyan football league system. Founded in 1994, it won its first league title during the 2008 season. Mathare United plays its home games at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
Il Mathare United Football Club è una squadra di calcio con sede a Nairobi, in Kenya. Milita nella Kenyan Premier League, la massima divisione del campionato keniota.
Il club è stato fondato nel 1977 da padre Patrick Johnstone, un missionario irlandese che lavorava presso il Mathare Youth Sports Association, un'organizzazione non governativa che si occupa di fornire servizi educativi e sportivi ai giovani dei quartieri poveri di Nairobi.
Il Mathare United è diventata una delle squadre più importanti del Kenya, vincendo tre volte la Kenyan Premier League (nel 2008, 2011 e 2012) e due volte la Coppa del Kenya (nel 2009 e 2012).
La squadra ha anche rappresentato il Kenya nelle competizioni internazionali, partecipando alla CAF Champions League e alla CAF Confederation Cup.
Il Mathare United è nota per il suo stile di gioco offensivo e per la sua capacità di produrre giovani talenti. Diversi giocatori del Mathare United hanno infatti rappresentato la nazionale keniota, tra cui Dennis Oliech, McDonald Mariga e Victor Wanyama.
